A 48-year-old man has been jailed for life after being convicted of the murder of a teenager suspected of being involved in a paedophile ring.
Ralph J. De La Rosa was also found guilty of a separate count of possessing child pornography.
De La Rosa, of the 1300 block of New York Avenue, was found guilty on Monday of murdering 18-year old Matthew Mecom in November 2013.
The jury was told De La Rosa allegedly stabbed Mecomm to death in front of his two teenage children.
The judge found De La- Rosa was aware of a paedophilic network that included “some members of the public and associates of the defendant”.
Prosecutors said De La is believed to have killed the teen in front, and his children in the back yard of their home.
He is also believed to be a leader in a network of sex offenders in the United States.
De la Rosa is expected to be sentenced on June 11.
