Canadians are more than twice as likely to find themselves fined for being uninsured than for being eligible for free health care, according to a new report from the Law Society of B.C. Legal Insurers Association of Canada.
The report found the number of people who find themselves in trouble for not getting a card rose from 9 per cent in 2008 to 11 per cent by 2015.
The organization is calling for more legislation to help prevent such fines.
